The Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change (CBSC) is a department within the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University. The professional staff of the center represent a multitude of degrees and professional fields. Work-Study and Other Undergraduate Student Employment

Our Transformational Equity and Affirmation Mentors (TEAM) are student employees who work to support their peers and other full-time staff in fulfilling our mission of community building, advocacy and education. This cohort of students collaborate internally and externally to develop alliances in creating positive social change on our campus. The CBSC employs about 15 undergraduate students annually. Students who serve in this role come from a wide range of backgrounds, identities and experiences. Information about how to apply can be found on our Student Employment page. Please note that we are only considering student employees who are eligible for Federal Work Study.

 

Graduate Administrative Associates

Based on a twenty-hour per week commitment, the Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change offers a small number of opportunities for graduate students who are seeking a Graduate Administrative Associate placement within the CBSC. Selected students gain professional experience in coordination of cultural and intercultural programs with a focus on cross-constituency community building, facilitation of workshops and trainings, and participation in departmental and university-wide committees and activities. Specific responsibilities are negotiated each year with the CBSC staff to meet the needs of the office, and the professional development goals of our GAA’s. Please note that all positions for the 2022-2023 academic year have been filled.

 

Internships, Fellowships and Independent Study

The Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change has offered a myriad of opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to complete independent studies, internships and fellowships in the Center. The CBSC is a highly unique setting for gaining professional skills across a wide spectrum of work. Whether you are interested in identity specific programs, social change efforts across constituency groups or initiating research or assessment efforts, the CBSC could be a good fit for your learning goals.
