Trans Visibility as Empowerment and Protest: Open-Mic and Storytelling
Date: Friday, November 18, 2022
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Location: Ohio Union - Cartoon Room 2
Visibility can be both the best and worst parts of our journey. We invite you to hear speakers from Trans Talks share their stories around visibility as protest and welcome you to share your own journey during the open mic section of this event.
Resources for Trans and LGBTQIA communities will be available in addition to food and drinks.
What does transgender visibility look like for the community in central Ohio and on the national level? What obstacles have we overcome and what challenges are we still facing? And, most importantly, how can we celebrate ourselves and our community in the wake of such overwhelming hostility and misinformation?
This is Trans: A Photography Journey of Awareness and Love

Time: 12-6 p.m.
Location: Stonewall Columbus (1160 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio)
Central Ohio photographer, Vincent-Natasha Gay, is collaborating with Stonewall Columbus to host a photo gallery challenging stigmas and stereotypes in the transgender community. This is Trans was created as a project to help bring awareness to exactly what it means to be transgender. Many people have false narratives or stigmas about the transgender community; this collection is meant to change that. This is more than an art gallery; it is an educational celebration. The premiere will have a wellness fair, guest speakers, a documentary showing of “This is Trans”, a silent art auction of works from transgender artists, a transgender drag show, and more.
The gallery will remain on display at Stonewall Columbus during normal business hours throughout the end of the year.
