Block Party
The Block Party is an opportunity to kick it with the Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change with a night of music, live entertainment, food, a student organization resource fair, silent disco and giveaways!
Did you know that there are more than1,500 student organizations at Ohio State?! More than 100 of these have a mission that includes diversity, social justice and equity. With so many ways to get involved, the CBSC Block Party offers an intercultural student organization resource fair. Student performances also take place throughout the night, including a stroll-off presented by the Multicultural Greek Council, the talents of student dance teams, spoken word artists and other fantastic surprises!
The Block Party keeps poppin' with a light show that lights up an extraordinary sensory experience at our silent disco. Dance the night away! Come on your own or get a group of friends together—all are welcome!
Music, performances, food and student org tables from 5-7 p.m. on the Ohio Union’s Potter Plaza. The party moves inside to the Performance Hall at 8 p.m. for the silent disco. All free with your Buck ID!
First Generation College Student Celebration
Colleges and universities across the United States observe the National First-Generation College Celebration Day on November 8 by recognizing the successes of students, staff and faculty who are the first in their families to earn a college degree. Together, the Buckeyes First student organization and the Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change honor first-generation identities through a weeklong social media campaign and series of programs highlighting student successes.
The culminating reception takes place on November 8 and is open to the entire Ohio State community. Details about our 2022 reception plans are TBD, depending on local, state and national health guidelines.
The Revolution
The Revolution is a series of facilitated dialogues and activities, wherein participants come together to create more connections and meaningfully engage with student leaders around campus committed to diversity and social justice work. CBSC staff selects a certain number of students to invite toward ensuring that we have a range of people from different backgrounds and identities included. Together, we share a transformative experience in which we are able to deeply and meaningfully explore the significance of our and others' social identities and learn about ways we can advocate for each other, ultimately working toward positive social change for our campus and local community.
Week of Action
The Week of Action is an initiative that seeks to reach out to the entire Ohio State campus community in an effort to encourage students, staff and faculty to advocate on behalf of people who are of a different race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious or spiritual identity, gender identity/expression, socioeconomic class or other social identity different from their own. Each of the week's events and programs are heavily focused on the themes of awareness, education and action.
