The Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change, along with offices, centers and student organizations across campus, is proud to present the calendar of events for the annual university-wide celebration of Women's History Month.
Women's History Month is the designated month worldwide that highlights contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. The month features a variety of panels, lectures, socials, women's sports and community activities and events.
All are welcome to come and celebrate the achievements and progress of women!

Menstrual Product Drive
Date: All March
Millions of people across the country are suffering the consequences of not being able to afford period products. Join us in collecting donations to benefit our community in Central Ohio and on our campus. Donations will be collected in the Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change lobby. Accepted donations include: unopened pads, liners, tampons, adult diapers and reusable cups (all sizes and brands accepted). Donations will be distributed to LLS CHOICES and YWCA Columbus. In exchange for donations, participants will receive a Center for Belonging and Social Change fanny pack or zipper bag.

Women’s Equal Pay Day: Salary Negotiation Workshop

Women’s Equal Pay Day marks the day into the year on which it takes for women on average to earn what men did in the previous year. Join us for a Salary Negotiation Workshop to learn about the gender pay gap, conduct market research for target salary, how to identify and articulate your personal value, and develop your own negotiation responses and strategies.

“She Did That” Documentary Night

Host: Undergraduate Business Women’s Association
Get in touch with the “reel” world and join us for a watch party of the 2019 documentary She Did That (Runtime: 1 hr 11 min). This film is an uplifting story of the passionate pursuits of Black women and their entrepreneurship journeys to raise the glass ceiling. We’ll have a trail mix bar for your enjoyment and an opportunity to write and receive letters of encouragement!

Join us and Bloom with your Peers at Bouquets and Beauty Standards as we welcome the Body Project from Ohio State’s Student Wellness Center! We will hear a research-based discussion on body-acceptance and challenging the “appearance ideal” and as we listen and learn we will make bouquets inspired by the encouragement we need to take home and remind us of how we can grow every day.

Hip Hop Literacies Conference 2023
Hiphop And Queer/Trans Black Feminisms

Host: Dr. Elanie Richarson, Professor in OSU Department of Teaching and Learning
Location: Hybrid, Ohio State University, Frank Hale Black Cultural Center
Participants of the Hiphop Literacies Conference join a community of those concerned with African American/Black, Brown and urban literacies, who are interested in challenging the sociopolitical arrangement of the relations between institutions, languages, identities, and power through engagement with local narratives of inequality and lived experience in order to critique a global system of oppression. The conference brings together diverse scholars and artists from local, national, and international places. HHLC continues to highlight research, teaching and advocacy with the goal of making a difference. HHLC creates a public-facing space for local educators, parents and students to participate and dialogue around issues that affect Hiphop generation youth.

Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance Documentary Screening and Director Q&A

Alanis Obomsawin’s political life has always been inseparable from her creative life. With roots in music and activism, Alanis Obomsawin arrived to the world of filmmaking when the National Film Board of Canada hired her to consult on other people’s projects. Eventually taking the camera into her own hands, she has built a body of work comprised of over 50 films and counting, each one another step towards building a more just existence for Indigenous peoples across North America. From preserving traditions through song, to putting herself and her camera on the frontlines of Indigenous/First Nations resistance to relentless state repression and violence, to her unwavering belief in the power of education to change the world, the legendary Abenaki filmmaker will be joining us at the Wex for a memorable evening including a screening of Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance followed by a post-screening Q&A.
