LGBTQ History Month
Every October, The Ohio State University recognizes LGBTQ History Month and sponsors a month-long series of events that highlight and celebrate LGBTQ+ communities of the past and the present through programming, visibility campaigns and educational events. LGBTQ History Month focuses on developing a sense of belonging and empowerment for the LGBTQ community. We highlight and celebrate the vast history of LGBTQ communities across campus and globally.

LGBTQ History Month Kick-Off Dinner

Location: Cartoon Room, Ohio Union (3rd floor)
To kick-off LGBTQ History Month, join the Center for Belonging and Social Change for our dinner social! This event is open to LGBTQ Buckeyes and allies to connect and celebrate. The night will also feature The Coming Out Monologues, an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty at Ohio State to share their stories of coming out and living authentically. LGBTQ 101 (DICE)

This 1-hour workshop provides an overview of LGBTQ identities, terminology, and history. LGBTQ 101 is open to students, faculty, and staff interested in learning more about the LGBTQ+ community. Registration is required. To register, go to: go.osu.edu/lgbtq101.
Trans 101 (DICE)
Date: Monday, October 10, 2022
Time: 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
This workshop explores best practices for engaging with and supporting transgender and gender non-conforming students and communities at The Ohio State University. The workshop is recommended for faculty, staff, and students. Through this 1-hour and 30-minute training, participants will gain a greater understanding of transgender identities and the systems of oppression that affect their community, as well as strategies for creating gender inclusive spaces. National Coming Out Day: Out & Fabulous Photo Op

Time: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Center for Belonging and Social Change - front lounge
Happy National Coming Out Day! Whether you're coming out for the first time or the millionth, celebrate NCOD with the Center for Belonging and Social Change. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to come to the front lounge of the CBSC to have an “out & fabulous” photo taken that can be shared on social media or simply as a token of personal pride.
Pronouns 101 (DICE)
Date: Monday, October 17, 2022
Time: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
This workshop provides an overview of pronouns and their correct usage, and discusses the importance of normalizing the practice of sharing pronouns. The workshop is recommended for students, faculty, and staff who want to learn more about respectful pronoun usage. This 1-hour workshop is available once a month and by request. Creating LGBTQ Inclusive Classrooms

The Center for Belonging and Social Change offers this training to facilitate faculty and staff in creating more inclusive spaces for LGBTQ students. This 2-hour workshop focuses on best practices for supporting LGBTQ students in settings of higher education, as well as strategies for navigating challenging conversations and interrupting bias. Finding Community: LGBTQ Speed Friending

At a large university like Ohio State, finding your community can be challenging, especially if you identify as LGBTQIA+. The Center for Belonging and Social Change is here to help! Join us for a night of LGBTQ speed friending. Have some snacks and make some new connections! This event is open to all LGBTQIA+ students at Ohio State. Safe Zone (DICE)
Date: Monday, October 31, 2022
Time: 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The Safe Zone Training aims to create a more welcoming and safe campus for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. This 2.5-hour workshop is recommended for faculty, staff and students. Through this workshop, participants will (1) gain a greater understanding of LGBTQ identities and the systems of oppression that affect the community, (2) learn tools for incorporating LGBTQ-inclusive practices into your daily life, and (3) strengthen their skills in recognizing and interrupting anti-LGBTQ bias.
